University Archivist Mr. David Crawford explains that “The Rare Books Room, as the public space for our archival, rare books and special collections, offers access to books and other artifacts related to a variety of subjects from different cultures and from different time periods.” By bringing together and offering such access to materials and books with vastly different origins and histories, the Rare Books Room presents an interdisciplinary space that lends itself to a re-examination of the ways in which texts, and artifacts, interact with one another.
“You Are Here” is one of the many avenues we can begin to assert our power as thinkers, scholars, and activists.
What is a QUADRILOGUE, you ask?
This four-person conversation-style presentation will integrate the research of our four scholars in order to consider the implications of space and place individually and in the broader context of academia and activism.
The “You Are Here” Interdisciplinary Conference on Place, Space, and Embodiment is delighted to announce that Dr. Derek Gladwin from the University of British Columbia will be our featured keynote at the 2017 Conference.
We see the Contact Card as one of the small ways we help facilitate community and collegiality at our event. Since, “You Are Here” invites scholars at all stages of their careers, the contact card allows graduate students, early career scholars, tenured faculty, and independent scholars to share common ground–err, paper.
